Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council is offering School vacation week DAY camps for Brownie, Junior & Cadette Scouts on April 20, April 21, April 22, and April 23. Juliette Scouts in grades 2-6 may also register.
You can register your daughter for one day ($40 per day) including bus transportation, from either Brophy or Potter Road elementary or register her for 2, 3, or all 4 days.

Bus picks up at 8 a.m.
Drops off at 5 p.m.
This is a good way to test out the camp experience for Scouts who have never tried it. It is also a great option for working parents, whose daughter enjoys Scouting.
The buses for Framingham were recently added!

Councils Adds MetroWest Bus for April Vacation Day Camps in Waltham
Council has added a fifth bus route for the day camps during April Vacation in Waltham for the MetroWest region.

Operation Snowflake for Cadette, Senior & Ambassador Scouts on feb. 13-14
Your Troop is invited to join other Girl Scouts at Camp Greenbrier in Acushnet on Feb. 13-14 for a great weekend of winter fun, adventure, camaraderie!
Hope for the challenge of snow!
This is the competitive winter camping event, attracting hundreds of teen Girl Scouts from around the Northeast & beyond.
Troops participate in competitive events like A-frame lashing, outdoor bake-offs, fire-building, wood-sawing, and more.
$15/troop and $10/ person fee includes ribbons (every Troop receives at least one), snacks, a patch, and a booklet to help your troop prepare for the event.
Many requirements for the Snowflake can be completed by attending this event.
This event is organized and run by Troop 80117 of Dartmouth, MA and is only for Cadette, Senior & Ambassador Scouts or Juliette Scouts in grades 7 – 12.

Owl Overnight for Brownie Scouts in Worcester on Dec. 4 & 5
Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts is hosting an Owl Overnight for Brownie Scouts at Broad Meadow Brook in Worcester on Friday night, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. to Saturday morning, Dec. 5 at 8:45 a.m.
Whooooo? You, that's who!
Bring your sense of adventure for an indoor program all about OWLS!
After the program, we'll take an after-dark hike and use our night vision, just like owls - or almost, since they see WAY better than we do!
After hiking, cozy up to sleep indoors in our visitor center.
This program is set up for small Troops looking for an overnight experience with an outdoor component.
If your group is larger than 15, contact Broad Meadow Brook to set up your own date (other topics and Try-Its are available).
Trained overnight leader and first aider required with each group.
This event is also open to individual Scouts and Juliette Scouts, with an adult chaperone.
The cost is $16 per Scout and $16 per adult/leader.
Registration is until Nov. 5th or when 40 people have registered.

NEW COUNCIL Requirements for Troop Camper and Troop First Aider
FROM GSEM COUNCIL:
Beginning September 1, 2009, troops will be required to have separate adults as First Aider and Troop Camper on while camping.
For safety reasons, GSEM is urging Troops to comply with this now.
At encampments, please consider sharing certified adults among troops if you do not have an adult for a position in your troop.
First Aiders will focus on attending to sick or injured children, while Troop Campers are continue the camp program safely with the rest of the girls.
See Basic Troop Camping and First Aid training dates.

Council Offering April School Vacation Week Camp Days in Waltham; But No Bus Service This year
Girl Scout Council of Eastern Massachusetts is again offering day camp 4 days during April School vacation.
Each camp has a specific theme and will be held at Cedar Hill in Waltham from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for each day is $30.
Below is a summary on each day's activities:
April 21: POP STAR CAMP: Create your own pop star persona at camp! Learn how to be a true diva on stage. Create pop star jewelry. End your day with a pop star performance by other campers. The stage is yours!
April 22: Mission Earth Camp: Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Save Planet Earth from global pollution. Master the eco-friendly challenges! Can you recycle more materials than the average girl? Can you complete the trash triathlon? Yes, you can!
April 23: Camp Fabulous: Do you have what it takes to be a fabulous camper? We think so! Come experience why camp is so marvelous! Try outdoor cooking, games, songs and crafts while spending time with friends outdoors.
April 24: Adventure Camp: Do you crave a little adventure in your life? Could you hit the bull's eye in archery if your team depended on you? Boulder across a rock wall or walk the tight wire? Test your limits in this adventure-filled day.
Unfortunately this year, Council has eliminated bus service to the Waltham-based school vacation week camps from the Framingham/Natick area.
COUNCIL's reasoning: "As for April Vacation Camp, we ran buses through Framingham the last 2 years. We had 4-6 girls on the bus. It was not cost effective to continue at this rate."

Unfortunately, the information for Bus #4 didn't make it into the Camp Brochure sent out to all registered Girl Scouts by the Eastern Massachusetts Council.
