Ice Chips Show Deadline is March, 29

See National, World, & Olympic figure skaters at the Ice Chips show on Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Harvard University. Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEM) has partnered with Ice Chips for discounted tickets at just $10. Family members may attend with Scouts.
GET BALANCED Local National competitors and World and Olympic guest skaters will perform with a cast of 100, including Girl Scouts from GSEM.
Girl Scouts can join the skaters for a meet-and-greet immediately after the show.
Parking available for a fee.
Registration deadline is March 29.
Tickets must be picked up at a GSEM office, e-mail Martha Bezzat, mbezzat@girlscoutseasternmass.org, with choice for pick-up location (Waltham, N.Andover, Boston, Middleboro).
The event is for all Scout levels from Daisy to Ambassador. Juliette Scouts in grades K-12 may also register.
The event will be at Harvard University, Bright Hockey Center, 79 North Harvard St.,
Cambridge.

Indoor Skydiving Event for Senior & Ambassador Scouts on May 15

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is hosting an indoor SKYDIVING program on May 15 from 10 a.m. to Noon at SkyVenture, 3 Poisson Ave, in Nashua, N.H.! This event is for Senior & Ambassador Scouts only!
Get Balanced. Fly at SkyVenture New Hampshire! Tour the facility and then experience the freedom of flight in their state- of-the-art vertical wind tunnel.
Video and photos of your experience will be taken.
Registration fee is $45 per Scout.
Registration will end about 2 weeks before the event. Although, sometimes events fill up to capacity earlier.

Sports Savvy Program for Older Scouts on April 25

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is offering a Sports Savvy program at the Hingham Scout House from 1 to 4 p.m. on April 25 for Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Scouts. Juliette Scouts in grades 6-12 may also register.
PROGRAM: Involved or interested in sports? Want to know where sports can take you now and in the future? Try out new fitness methods, learn from successful women how they turned their love of sports into exciting careers, and have fun with your friends as you spend an afternoon of sports, fitness, and fun!
The registration fee is $9 per Scout.
Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.
Registration deadline, according to GSEM, is typically 2 wqeeks prior to the event. Although some event due fill to capacity early.

White Water Rafting for Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Scouts on Sunday, June 6

Paddle, Pole and Role program for Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Scouts at Crab Apple White Water Rafting in Charlemont on Sunday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Juliette Scouts in grades 6-12 may also register.
PADDLE, POLE, & ROLE INTEREST PROJECT: This full-day program allows Girl Scouts to earn the Paddle Pole & Roll Interest Project using inflatable kayaks and professional instructors. The morning session includes instruction, on-water practice and relay races in the reservoir behind the base camp. The afternoon is spent paddling inflatable kayaks, "Funyaks" 8 miles down an easy stretch of the Deerfield River.
Follow-up work at home completes the IP requirements.
For Troops and individual Scouts. Troops should adhere to safety-wise rules. Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.

Registration cost is $55 per Scout and $55 per leader/adult.
Registration will end when 50 people have registered or on May 14.

High Adventure Interest Project on June 12 for Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Scouts

Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts is hosting a High Adventure Interest Project event at Camp Harrington in Bolyston on Saturday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Scouts. Juliette Scouts in grades 6-12 may also register.
PROGRAM: You're sure to climb out of your "comfort zone" at this full-day program earning your High Adventure Interest Project. You'll have a great time challenging yourself on low ropes, climbing wall, and high ropes elements. We're talking high-adrenaline OMG swinging-from-the-trees FUN!!!
Practice team building and learn the basics of adventure education as well as technical skills such as spotting, belaying, climbing, and more.
Bring a brown bag lunch.
Troops and Individual Scouts may register. Troops should adhere to safety-wise rules. Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.

Swim & Fun Overnight Program for Brownies on June 12-13

Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts is offering a Swim & Fun Overnight program at the Worcester YWCA on Saturday, June 12 from 7 p.m. until Sunday, June 13 to 9 a.m. for Brownie Scouts.
PROGRAM: The Synchro-maids of the YWCA have planned a night of fun and activities for you! Activities will include swimming, dance, crafts, indoor sports and more! Scouts will also have a chance to watch a few routines performed by the Synchro-maids synchronized swim team and try 'synchro' yourself! Includes all activities, drinks, pizza, snack and breakfast.
This event is really for Troops. Troops should adhere to safety-wise rules.
Individual Scouts may register, but it is recommended they registered with a buddy.

Worcester Swim Overnight on May 29-30

Girl Scout Golf Event on Saturday, April 24

Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts will host a Girls Golf Club Kick Off Event on Saturday, April 24 at a location TBD for Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Scouts from 10 a.m. to noon.
Juliette Scouts in grades 2-12 may also register. Troops and individual Scouts may register. Troops should adhere to safety wise rules. Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.
PROGRAM: Kick off the spring/summer season learning the basics of golf. Local golf pros will instruct clinics in putting, chipping and full swing. It's a fun-filled introduction to the 2010 Summer Girls Golf Club. Golf clubs will be available to borrow.

Framingham Girl Scouts Bowl

Almost 175 Scouts participated in the Framingham Girl Scouts Me & My Pal Bowling Event on Saturday, March 6. Scouts who participated each received a round bowling participation patch for the back of their vest or sash. The event was planned to coincide with national Girl Scout Week.

Girl Sports Try-It Program for Brownies at Camp Harrington on June 6

Girl Scouts of central & Western Massachusetts is offering a Girl Sports Adventure for Brownie Scouts at Camp Harrington in Boylston on Sunday, June 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. Juliette Scouts in grades 2 & 3, and recently bridged Daisy Scouts may register.
Try-It Program: Being active and challenging yourself is a great way to discover just what you can do when you try. Cross an imaginary alligator-infested swamp with the help of your team and a swinging vine, balance together on a giant teeter-totter, protect your “Jedi Warrior” while trying to tag theirs by throwing yarn balls through space to earn your GirlSports Try-It by playing energy-packed field games, working together to figure out brain–teasing challenges and supporting each other while climbing out of your “comfort zone” on the low rope challenge course ~ all in the spirit of adventure!
Troops and individual scouts may register. Safety-wise rules apply to Troops. Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.
NOTE: Not sure if the Try-It badge is included in the cost of the registration fee. call Council to confirm.

Swimming Badge Program for Junior Scouts on April 24 in Worcester

Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts Council will host a Swimming Badge Program for Junior Scouts on Swimming Badge at the YWCA in Worcester on Saturday, April 24 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. for Junior Scouts. Juliette Scouts in grades 4 & 5 may also register.
BADGE PROGRAM: Looking for a fun way to earn the Junior Swimming Badge? Girls will work in small groups, choosing from 8 stations. After completing 6 stations, Scouts will have earned the badge! There will also be time for free swim and a chance to watch a performance of the Synchro-maids synchronized swim team!
NOTE: Badges can be purchased separately at the Council store.
Troops and individual Scouts may register. Troops must follow safety-wise rules. Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.

6-Week Archery Program Offered for Junior Scouts in Waltham

Take Aim: The 6 Mondays we will meet are: April 5, April 12, April 26, May 3, May 10, May 17.
There is no program Monday April 19 because of April Vacation.
Once you’ve learned the basics of archery, take the challenge to complete the Ultimate Archer’s Quest!
Spend six Monday sessions improving your individual archery skills as you get to know other girls your age.
Girls will have the chance to earn the Archery Badge by participating in this program.
Aim for bulls eye and see just what you can accomplish during these session!
Date: Start date is Monday, April 5
Time:
4 to 5:30 p.m.
Scout Level: Junior
Juliette Scouts in grades 4 & 5 may also register.
Location: Camp Cedar Hill, 265 Beaver Street, in Waltham.
Registration fee: $50 per Scout.

Archery Afternoon at Camp Green Eyrie in Harvard on April 10

Girl Scouts of Central & Westerm Massachusetts Council is offering a Spring Archery Days event for Scouts of all levels on Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Camp Green Eyrie in Harvard. Juliette Scouts in grades K-12 may also register.
Event info: Sign up for a one-hour session for a quick basic lesson and free shooting time. All equipment is provided. Troops & Juliette Scouts will be contacted to schedule their hour following receipt of your registration form.

Horse Sampler Program on March 6 in Holliston for Junior Scouts

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and Lil Folk Farm is offering a Horse Sampler program on March 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Holliston for Junior Scouts. Juliette Scouts in grades 4 & 5 may register, also.
Do you have a desire to learn more about horseback riding?
Come spend the afternoon with your fellow Girl Scouts for a riding sampler.
Junior Scouts will learn to groom horses, learn about care and feeding, learn to lead a horse, and learn to mount and steer a horse on their own.
This program meets some badge requirements for Juniors.
The program takes place at Lil Folk Farm, 1070 Washington St. in Holliston.
Registration is $15 per Scout. Leaders are free.
Juliette & Individual Scouts may register but must attend with an adult chaperone.

OVERNIGHT PROGRAM: Behind the Scenes Mall Madness on March 6-7

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is hosting a Behind the Scenes: Mall Madness - Solomon Pond Mall Overnight! on March 6-7 from from Saturday at 3 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The event is for Cadette, Senior & Ambassador Scouts.

Juliette Scouts in grades 6-12 may also register.
GSEM says this is an Amazing opportunity! "We have booked, “Girl Authority” (an all-girl Rock Band) - to give the Girl Scouts a special after hours pajama party concert!
And we have confirmed the Boston Breakers Women Soccer team to exclusively run fitness clinics for the GSEM!
This overnight program also includes, “shopping,” and workshops throughout the mall, a chance to spa, learn about nutrition, art, fashion, fitness, self care, and so much more. Make new friends through fun and adventure!
Each individual Girl Scout and adult will enjoy a meal from the food court as part of the program, and a continental breakfast.
Bring your sleeping bag! (though you may not sleep!) and be ready for an all day/night extravaganza!"
The event will be held at Solomon Pond Mall in Marlboro.

Cost is $50 per Scout and $50 per leader/adult volunteer.

Central Mass Council Offering Brownies Self-Defense Try-It Program on Saturday, March 20

Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts is offering a special Brownie Try-It Program called Self-Defense for Brownies on Saturday, March 20 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at McCoys Action Karate in Auburn.
Juliette Scouts in grades 2 & 3 may also registered.
Think Brownies are too young or too small to learn how to defend themselves? Think again! Girls will learn techniques they can use if they ever find themselves in a sticky situation.
We'll cover bullying, self-confidence, body language, tone of voice and more!
Age-appropriate and totally fun!
Girls will earn an out-of-council Brownie Try-It at this workshop.
Troops and individual Brownie Scouts may register. Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.

Girl Scouts days at the Harlem Globetrotters on March 27 or March 28

TDBank Garden is offering Girl Scouts discounted tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters on Saturday, March 27 or Sunday, March 28.
Shows are Saturday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m.
Loge Tickets are $18.50 per Scout, and includes a participation patch for the back of the vest. Family members may attend at the same special Troop rate. (Ticket saving is about $21 each with this discount.)

Deadline Approaching for Elite Athlete Program in Rhode Island

Life as an Elite Athlete, Student, and Woman (Providence Friars): Learn from the Providence College Women's Basketball Team - how do they balance it all? Student athletes will speak and participate in basketball drills with Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts.
Participating Scouts will receive a game ticket, food voucher, souvenirs, and a fun patch.
Post game autograph session after the game!
Friends and Family are welcome to attend - and will also receive a food voucher and ticket for the game.
The event is Tuesday, Feb. 16 (school vacation week) at Providence College, in Providence, R.I. starting at 4:45 p.m.
The program is for Junior, Cadette, Senior or Ambassador Girl Scouts or Juliette Scouts in grades 4-12.
The cost is $9 per Scout and $5 per other family member/adult/leader.
